There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Wednesday, including at Tampa Bay Downs race track. We have been in fine form with our picks for a long time and are up +277.65 units on horse racing selections to our recommended stakes since August 5.
Here are 4 runners we expect to perform well today. It’s time to dive in and discuss these potentially profitable plays.
2:55 pm ET Tampa Bay Downs (Race 6) – Grumley 8/1 (1-star play)
Race 6 at Tampa Bay is a $36,000 Allowance Optional Claiming event for 3-year-olds over 7 furlongs on the dirt and Grumley can go well.
Gerald Bennett’s colt broke his maiden at this track last December but has finished down the field in 2 races since. However, he is the type who will get better as the season goes on and as he gains more experience, so he has a chance at rewarding odds.
3:25 pm ET Tampa Bay Downs (Race 7) – Vintner 3/1 (2-star play)
A field of 10 older horses is set to line up in Race 7 at Tampa Bay, which is an open-looking $19,450 Claiming contest over a mile on the turf. I like the chances of the gelding in stall 8, Vintner, who is vastly experienced and always runs well at this course.
This 6-year-old is race fit and his form figures in this grade at the track since the turn of the year read 223424. It’s only a matter of time before he gets his head in front again.
3:55 pm ET Tampa Bay Downs (Race 8) – Catch the Rainbow 5/2 (2-star play)
The penultimate race at Tampa Bay is a $15,000 Maiden Claimer for the female division and the likely favourite Catch The Rainbow is likely to be tough to beat.
Kathleen O’Connell’s filly has yet to break her maiden in 7 starts, but she is just starting to come to herself and after a recent 2nd place in a similar event at the course she can break her duck at the 8th attempt.
4:25 pm ET Tampa Bay Downs (Race 9) – Roman Princess 10/1 (1-star play)
Some well-bred newcomers are making their debuts in the 9th and final race at Tampa Bay and one who catches the eye is Linda Scocca’s Roman Princess, who is using Lasix for her first outing. Her sire Biondetti was a very capable dirt performer.
He was a Godolphin-owned horse who finished 4th in a Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and won his first 3 starts on the track so, although Roman Princess is a late bloomer, it would not surprise if she shows up well on debut.
