4:29 pm Saratoga (Race 7) – Proven Hope 5/1 (1-star play)
Race 7 at Saratoga is a $60,000 Maiden Claiming contest over a mile on the turf and I like the chances of the colt in stall five, Proven Hope, who has been running well in top Maiden Special Weights thus far and should find this assignment much easier. Mark Hennig’s Chestnut hasn’t been disgracing himself in those races and if he can run to that form then he will have every chance of winning this weak race.
5:05 pm Saratoga (Race 8) – Boldish 3/1 (2-star play)
A field of six older horses are set to go to post for Race 8 at Saratoga, which is a $60,000 Claiming event over seven furlongs on the dirt and one who should go close here is Linda Rice’s Boldish. He’s a three-time winner, one of which was at this course, and he comes into this off of a seven month break but his last two workouts at this course have been good so if he puts his best foot forward then he should be in the shake up.
5:39 pm Saratoga (Race 9) – Tide Of The Sea 2/1 (2-star play)
The penultimate race at Saratoga is the $135,000 John’s Call Stakes over a distance of a mile and five eighths and this will take some getting so with that in mind it’s worth siding with Tide Of The Sea who has won multiple times over a furlong less than this and should be able to stretch himself out an extra eighth of a mile. He’s also a course winner who hit the board in Grade 2 and Grade 3 company last season so he should take plenty of beating here.
6:13 pm Saratoga (Race 10) – Control Function 3/1 (2-star play)
Chad Brown’s Control Function is a filly with plenty of potential and I’m very much looking forward to seeing how she goes in the finale at Saratoga. This is a competitive $70,000 Starter Allowance for females but this daughter of Kitten’s Joy has already shown plenty of ability after a good second in a similar event last time and she can win this on her first start since January.
