2:19 pm Saratoga (Race 3) – Chess Master 6/5 (2-star play)
The seven-year-old delivered some decent efforts in defeat earlier this year and ran with credit when four lengths last of six in a five furlong stakes event at Lone Star Park in June. The son of Overdriven went on to record his fourteenth career success in winning by a length in an allowance optional claimer over five furlongs on good going at Indiana Downs last month and looks capable of completing a double for trainer Mike Maker.
2:52 pm Saratoga (Race 4) – Shadow Dragon 9/5 (2-star play)
The son of Army Mule placed in the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes over a mile-and-one-sixteenth at Gulfstream Park in February. However he was found out in two subsequent starts at Graded level and appeared to appreciate the drop in grade when winning an allowance over the same trip at Belmont Park two months ago. The pick delivered a second over a mile in an allowance optional claimer subsequently and is selected to register a third career win.
5:10 pm Saratoga (Race 8) – Technial Analysis 9/5 (2-star play)
Chad Brown’s mare is a multiple Graded stakes winner with her most recent triumph coming by half-a-length in the Grade 2 Ballston Spa Stakes over a mile-and-one-sixteenth at this venue in August last year. The mare made her five-year-old debut when beaten half-a-length into second by Evvie Jets in the Listed Perfect Sting Stakes at Belmont a month ago and is taken to reverse that form following a 28.25 four furlong work on turf at this track last week.
