4:34 pm Saratoga (Race 7) – Security Code 7/2 (2-star play)
Race 7 at Saratoga is an Allowance Optional Claiming contest for the female division and one who can go well is Philip Serpe’s Security Code who has been running consistently well this season. She won her maiden here and has notched up form figures of 313 in this grade so, with more improvement to come, I see no reason why she cannot run a big race.
5:10 pm Saratoga (Race 8) – Guntown 5/1 (1-star play)
Chad Brown’s Pipeline is likely to be a warm order in this Allowance Optional Claimer but I feel we have yet to see the best of the gelding drawn on the rail, Guntown, who was highly touted as a two-year-old and has enough ability to win this. This son of Gun Runner was a determined winner at Fair Grounds back in March and will be one to look out for finishing fast and late under Jose Lezcano.
5:44 pm Saratoga (Race 9) – War Like Goddess 3/5 (3-star play)
War Like Goddess returns in the $250,000 Grade 2 Glen Falls Stakes and her six rivals all have their work cut out to stop William Mott’s charge from winning this for the third year in a row. Joel Rosario’s mount is a dual grade 1 winner who has hit the board in two Breeders’ Cup races so if she runs close to her best form she should have too much for the opposition.
6:18 pm Saratoga (Race 10) – War Prince 6/1 (1-star play)
A field of nine go to post for the finale at Saratoga which is a Maiden Claiming event taking place over an extended five furlong trip on the turf and I like the chances of War Prince. After showing good early speed in his races, he has been tiring late over longer trips, so if Luis Saez can get out of the gates quickly and into a forward position early then they could get away from them in the finale.
