Race 7 at Saratoga features some impeccably bred 3-year-old fillies who go to post over a mile trip on the turf course and I like the William Mott-trained No Deli, who can strike at the third time of asking. This daughter of No Nay Never has finished mid-pack in both of her starts so far and can put that experience to good use with this drop back in trip being sure to suit.
5:14 pm Saratoga (Race 8) – Win For Gold 5/2 (2-star play)
Win For Gold has recorded form figures of 2, 3, 2, 3 and 2 in Starter Allowance company since March and now could be the time to catch Michelle Giangiulio’s gelding. If he runs to the level of his second over course and distance last time out then he will be right there. He has also been impressive in recent workouts at this course, so all looks set for a big run.
5:46 pm Saratoga (Race 9) – King Of Comedy 5/2 (2-star play)
The penultimate event at Saratoga is the $125,000 Rick Violette Stakes in which Ramblin’ Wreck is likely to take some beating, but I like the chances of King Of Comedy — who won an Allowance in scintillating fashion at Belmont Park last month. He drew clear to win by 5 lengths under a hand drive from Javier Castellano, who takes the ride again here. The pair could take some catching if getting out of the gates and into the lead early.
6:18 pm Saratoga (Race 10) – Russi 6/1 (1-star play)
This is an open looking Maiden Special Weight over a sprint trip on the turf and one who can go well is Russi, who seemed to enjoy his first outing at Saratoga last time out. Luis Saez’s mount failed to hit the frame in 3 starts prior to his rallying second over this distance here last month and the penny seems to have dropped with him and now so with a similar effort he can take the victory.
