4:34 pm Saratoga (Race 7) – Root Cause 9/2 (1-star play)
Race 7 at Saratoga is a hotly contested Allowance Optional Claiming event for the female division and one who can go well is Chad Brown’s Root Cause who won her maiden over this mile and an 8th trip and has more improvement to come.
Her speed figures are improving and she went close in this grade last time when finishing 3rd at Belmont Park so it would not surprise should she go close.
5:10 pm Saratoga (Race 8) – Pine Valley 9/2 (1-star play)
A field of 9 go to post for this 7-furlong Claiming contest in which Magical Ways and Moving Pictures are likely to take plenty of beating but I like the gelding drawn in stall nine, Pine Valley, who will appreciate this drop back in trip.
Robert Mosco’s gelding has been showing up well before fading late on over a mile in recent starts, so this assignment should be much more to his liking.
5:44 pm Saratoga (Race 9) – Kingdom on Paws 12/1 (1-star play)
Although Wayne Potts’ Kingdom On Paws took 11 attempts to break his maiden, he did so in determined fashion at Monmouth Park last Summer, and the general feeling is that we have yet to see the best of this son of Animal Kingdom.
He was very good when kicking clear to win a Claimer by four lengths at the same course last month, which was his second career win, and he looks to be overpriced on his first start in Starter Allowance company.
6:18 pm Saratoga (Race 10) – Kasimba 3/1 (2-star play)
The finale at Saratoga is a competitive Maiden Claimer over an extended 5 furlongs on the turf and this can be 5th time lucky for Kasimba who has recorded form figures of 2222 from four starts.
Now could be the time to catch Luis Saez’s mount who will take some catching if breaking alertly and getting to the lead from a good draw in stall six.
