1:46 pm ET Saratoga (Race 1) – Slip Mahoney 2/1 (2-star play)
The winner of a maiden special weight contest at Aqueduct in January the son of Arrogate showed that he can be competitive at a higher level when seven-and-a-half-lengths second having come from off the pace on a muddy track in the Grade 2 Gotham Stakes over a mile at the same venue in early March. Held in two starts in stakes company since Brad Cox’s charge looks capable of doubling his career tally dropped in grade following a gelding operation.
3:00 pm ET Saratoga (Race 3) – Nest 4/5 (3-star play)
Trained by Todd Pletcher the multiple Grade 1 winner won twice at the top level at this meeting last year including by four-and-a-quarter-lengths in the Alabama over a mile-and-a-quarter in August. The daughter of Curlin has made just the two subsequent starts including when fourth in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff over a furlong shorter at Keeneland in early November. She has shown up well in the mornings of late and can get the better of Clairiere here.
4:39 pm ET Saratoga (Race 7) – Colonel Bowman 6/5 (2-star play)
The five-year-old is the winner of five of his six starts since joining the David Jacobson barn with his two most recent victories coming at Belmont Park in May. Given a break since holding on well when scoring by a nose upped to seven furlongs for an allowance optional claimer there he rates highly in this field and looks up to registering a third consecutive vcitory with Irad Ortiz up on her first start at this venue.
