1:38 pm Saratoga (Race 2) – Deep Cover 5/2 (2-star play)
The son of Mission Impozible is lightly-raced for one his age, but has managed two wins in a five race career to date. The most recent of those came when making all to score by five-and-three-quarter-lengths in a yielding ground six furlong allowance event at Belmont Park in May. Disappointed in an allowance optional claimer at the same track subsequently, but was unable to dominate that day and with a good draw here is taken to return to winning ways.
4:26 pm Saratoga (Race 7) – Balthus 2/1 (2-star play)
He took four starts to break his maiden with that success coming by six lengths in a mile-and-a-quarter maiden special weight on a good turf course at Belmont Park back in May but wasted no time in completing a double with a three-and-a-quarter-length victory over an eighth further at the same venue at the end of June. Shapes as if the extra distance here will suit and the four-year-old is selected to complete a hat-trick for trainer Chad Brown.
5:35 pm Saratoga (Race 9) – Love Reigns 2/1 (2-star play)
She made an impressive start to her racing career when recovering from a poor start to make all the running in a five-and-one-half-furlong maiden special weight at Keeneland at the end of April. She delivered a solid three length fourth against European rivals in Royal Ascot’s Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes on good-to-firm going subsequently and looks capable of registering a second win in three starts with jockey Irad Ortiz looking to improve on a 19% strike-rate (37/191) at this meeting.
