3:26 pm ET Saratoga (Race 5) – Operation Torch 6/5 (2-star play)
The son of War Front delivered an impressive two-and-a-half-length victory when contesting an extended-mile maiden special weight on a good turf course at Keeneland in April. The 3-year-old has delivered two good efforts in defeat since, including when runner-up over an extended mile on a firm track at Belmont Park in June.
Shug McGaughey’s colt has worked well since then and is taken to return to winning ways with Junior Alvarado, on board last time out, up again.
4:00 pm ET Saratoga (Race 6) – Zadorsky 5/2 (2-star play)
Wayne Catalano’s filly has shown ability in two starts in maiden special weight company at Ellis Park. Both of those efforts have come over 5 furlongs, including when she was 9 lengths 3rd when tracking the pace last month. Similar tactics had been employed aboard the selection when she debuted with a neck 2nd.
Jose Lezcano takes the ride for the first time today and he is taken to steer the Tapiture filly to victory following a 50.66 4-furlong breeze at this track.
4:34 pm ET Saratoga (Race 7) – Vittorio 7/5 (2-star play)
The 5-year-old has shown good form since joining the Bill Mott barn, finishing on the board in 3 of his 5 starts. Those efforts include a nose defeat when runner-up in a 7-furlong allowance optional claimer at Belmont Park in May and a neck 3rd over half a furlong shorter in a similar contest there last month.
The son of Ghostzapper looks capable of delivering a victory stepping back up in distance with Irad Ortiz booked for the ride.
