1:39 pm Saratoga (Race 3) – Peaceful Waters 9/5 (2-star play)
She broke her maiden in a mile-and-one-sixteenth maiden special weight at Fair Grounds back in January and has finished on the board in two of her three subsequent starts including when runner-up, beaten five-and-three-quarter-lengths dropping to six furlongs for an allowance here last month. She raced from the front in all six previous starts and with a good draw three off the rail, the daughter of Dialed In is selected to successfully employ front-running tactics in this contest.
2:45 pm Saratoga (Race 5) – Activist Investing 5/2 (2-star play)
Plenty went wrong on his debut having unseated his rider pre-race and then been bumped multiple times during the race, but the son of Kingman acquitted himself well in finishing four-and-three-quarter-lengths fifth over this course and distance last month. He had today’s rival Coach Petro in front of him that day but with that experience, granted an uneventful passage, the Chad Brown-trained colt looks capable of reversing that form to deliver a victory at the second time of asking.
4:26 pm Saratoga (Race 8) – With The Moonlight 9/5 (2-star play)
The Godolphin-owned filly showed good form in the UK, winning the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes over a mile-and-a-quarter at Newmarket in May, but she has taken her form to a new level competing in New York this summer. She followed up a Grade 1 place at Belmont Park with a win over a mile-and-three-sixteenths in the Grade 3 Saratoga Oaks Invitational Stakes here. She sets the standard on form and is taken to complete a double down in trip.
5:35 pm Saratoga (Race 10) – Nest 1/2 (3-star play)
The winner of five of her eight career starts, the daughter of Curlin followed up a Grade 1 Ashland Stakes win with two Grade 1 seconds including against colts in the mile-and-a-half Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park in June. Returned to racing against her own sex to deliver a twelve-and-a-quarter-length victory over her rivals here Secret Oath and Nostalgic in the Grade 1 CCA Oaks over a mile-and-one-eighth, and looks capable of recording a third success at the top level.
6:07 pm Saratoga (Race 11) – Aviano 3/1 (2-star play)
Showed good form in allowance company when registering a length-and-a-quarter victory in a mile-and-one-eighth contest at Churchill Downs back in May. Proved a disappointment when finishing last of nine upped a furlong in trip for an allowance optional claimer at Belmont Park subsequently. Gets a significant drop in grade here and with Irad Ortiz returning to the saddle, the son of Medaglia d’Oro is taken to help handler Todd Pletcher improve on his 22% strike-rate (20/92) at this meeting.
