Bidding to give 4 pounds to the winner on that occasion and coming into this race fresh, the son of Toronado looks up to providing jockey Irad Ortiz with a stakes winner having drawn post position 2.
2:47 pm ET Saratoga (Race 5) – Backyard Money 9/5 (2-star play)
Backyard Money won at the third time of asking when delivering a head victory in a 6-furlong maiden special weight contest at this venue at the end of July.
She was making her first start of the season that day and proved that she is up to competing at this level when finishing4 1/4 lengths 2nd having tried to make all the running upped to 7 furlongs at this track last month. She is selected to score with the return to 6 furlongs being positive.
6:11 pm ET Saratoga (Race 11) – Gulfport 9/5 (2-star play)
Gulfport lost his unbeaten record when going down by 3 1/4 lengths in the Grade 2 Saratoga Special Stakes over 6 1/2 furlongs at this venue last month. He met trouble in the run on that occasion and represents a trainer in Steve Asmussen who can boast a 27% strike-rate (12/45) at this meeting.
He had previously won a Listed stakes over 6 furlongs by a double-digit margin and, stepping up to 7 furlongs, looks capable of registering a first victory at the top level.
