1:10 pm Saratoga (Race 1) – Mischief Joke 2/1 (2-star play)

The son of Practical Joke was a cheap $6,500 purchase at the Keeneland January Sale last year but has shown good form in three starts to date finishing on the board on each occasion. The two most recent of those have come for current handler Mike Maker including when two-and-a-half-lengths second in a five furlong maiden special weight at Belmont Park in June. He looks capable of registering a victory with the step up in distance expected to suit.

1:44 pm Saratoga (Race 2) – Artemus Citylimits 9/5 (2-star play)

The six-year-old has been competing in stakes company in recent starts including when five-and-a-quarter-lengths fifth over five furlongs in the Dark Star Turf Sprint Stakes on turf at Canterbury Park last month. The Temple City gelding had previously finished fourth over the same trip in a Listed stakes at Pimlico and dropping in grade he looks up to taking this having registered a victory in a similar event over this course and distance just over a year ago.

2:52 pm Saratoga (Race 4) – Quick Munny 7/5 (2-star play)

The mare failed to shine on turf when debuting for Chris A Hartman at Churchill Downs on her penultimate start. Hartman returned her to the main track subsequently however with the mare racing from the front in delivering a three-and-a-half-length second in a five-and-a-half-furlong $50,000 claiming contest when returned to the main track at Ellis Park last month. The five-year-old was claimed by current handler Linda Rice following that effort and looks capable of scoring upped in trip.

3:26 pm Saratoga (Race 5) – Colloquy 7/5 (2-star play)

The four-year-old son of Flatter delivered a three-quarters-of-a-length victory in a $25,000 claiming contest over a mile at Aqueduct in April. The gelding joined the Tom Morley barn following that contest and duly completed a double when delivering a four length victory over a mile-and-one-sixteenth in a Belmont Park starter event a month later. Placed third in a $80,000 mile allowance at the same track subsequently and is taken to return to winning ways with Jaime Torres booked to ride.

6:18 pm Saratoga (Race 10) – Drew’s Gold 9/5 (2-star play)

Extended his unbeaten run to four when drawing four-and-three-quarter-lengths clear of his rivals in the Listed Gold Fever Stakes over six furlongs at Belmont Park in May. Lost his unbeaten record when stepped up to Grade 1 company in finishing one-and-three-quarter-lengths second in the Woody Stephens Stakes over seven furlongs at the same venue just under a month later. The slight drop in trip here is a positive and Jose Ortiz can steer the son of Violence to victory.
