1:10 pm Saratoga (Race 1) – Wicked Again 7/5 (2-star play)
The Gun Runner colt has shown ability in both starts to date including when runner-up over six furlongs in a maiden special weight contest at Fair Grounds on debut in March. Followed that effort up with a fourth upped to seven furlongs in a similar contest at Keeneland the following month. The shorter distance here shouldn’t inconvenience too much and he looks capable of getting off the mark following a 47.55 four furlong breeze here on 27th July.
3:26 pm Saratoga (Race 5) – Patient Capital 9/5 (2-star play)
The four-year-old has delivered some good efforts in defeat since impressing with a seven length victory in a mile starter event at Aqueduct in November last year. Trainer by Mike Maker the picks latest effort saw him finishing three-and-a-quarter-lengths fourth in a seven-and-a-half-furlong allowance at Churchill Downs at the start of May. The drop to $50,000 claiming company is a positive here and he is taken to score with Javier Castellano booked to ride the Practical Joke gelding.
4:00 pm Happy Bob (Race 6) – Happy Bob 1/1 (3-star play)
Linda Rice’s gelding has had fewer chances than most in this field and he made a promising start for the handler when registering a seven length third in a $40,000 maiden claiming contest over a mile at this venue last month. The four-year-old had previously been claimed out of a similar contest over six furlongs at Belmont Park in May and returning to sprinting is selected to register his first victory at the seventh time of asking.
4:34 pm Saratoga (Race 7) – Elusive Princess 7/2 (2-star play)
The daughter of Martinborough has shown good form in France including finishing runner-up in the Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary over one-and-a-quarter-miles at Longchamp in May. Subsequently delivered a five-and-a-half-lengths fifth from a wide gate in the Group 1 Prix de Diane over a sixteenth further the following month. The shorter distance here should prove no issue and with Flavien Prat booked to ride she looks capable of recording her fourth career win and her first in stakes company.
5:08 pm Saratoga (Race 8) – Nagirroc 7/2 (2-star play)
Graham Motion’s colt showed good form at two winning both starts having joined the trainer from Jimmy Corrigan following a second place finish on debut. The second of those wins came in the Grade 3 Futurity Stakes over six furlongs at Aqueduct in October. The son of Lea showed that he stays this trip when taking the Listed James W. Murphy Stakes over this trip at Pimlico on his penultimate start and he looks up to delivering a victory here.
