There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Friday, including at Saratoga race track. On Wednesday we nailed three winning picks out of four (including one at +500 odds), so let’s go for more success today!
Here are four runners whom we think look to be a class above the opposition in their respective races. Let’s dive in and take a look at some potentially lucrative plays.
4:29 pm Saratoga (Race 7) – Top Gun Tommy +800
Race 7 at Saratoga is a $60,000 Starter Allowance event over a mile and an eighth on the dirt and this one can go to Kelly Breen’s Top Gun Tommy. This son of Mineshaft finished fifth on debut at Monmouth Park last October before winning on two occasions at Gulfstream Park and Gulfstream Park West, both of which were over a mile which is a furlong shy of this trip today. Two good seconds followed those wins and this colt should put up a very bold showing on his first start at Saratoga.
5:05 pm Saratoga (Race 8) – Galawi +500
Graham Motion’s Galawi is an ex-French trained colt who won a Maiden Special Weight at Belmont Park on his debut in the states last month and he can follow up in Race 8 at Saratoga. After showing a good level of form when finishing second and third in Maiden races at Chantilly this colt was shipped over to American shores and won by half a length on his first start and with a similar showing here he can win this Allowance contest.
5:39 pm Saratoga (Race 9) – Dynamic One +400
The penultimate race at Saratoga is the competitive $120,000 Curlin Stakes over a mile and an eighth on the turf which features the highly promising First Captain but it’s the horse in stall seven, Dynamic One, who can prove best of all. Todd Pletcher’s colt finished second from last in the Kentucky Derby but before that he had a nice improving profile and this is a big drop in class so a much better run can be expected this time around.
6:13 pm Saratoga (Race 10) – Mill Stone Creek +1000
A hotly contested $50,000 Maiden Claiming contest is the final race on Saratoga’s card and Mill Stone Creek, who is drawn in the middle and has hit the board on three occasions from five starts, can get much closer this time around. This four-year-old has been contesting good races in this grade so far in his career and is finely poised to take up a much closer position at the winning post if his jockey Dylan Davis can get in a good position out of the stalls.
