There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Friday, including at Saratoga race track. Here are four runners whom we think look to be a class above the opposition in their respective races. Let’s dive in and take a look at some potentially lucrative plays.
2:15 pm Saratoga (Race 3) – Charleston Strong +450
Race 3 at Saratoga is a $100,000 Maiden Special Weight over a mile on the turf and I like the look of Charleston Strong who is learning with experience and can break his maiden tag in this contest. This son of Flatter finished fifth on his first two starts but has since added two third placed efforts to his young CV and the switch to Saratoga may just help him in his quest for that elusive first victory. Top jockey Luis Saez takes the ride and this colt should put up a bold showing.
3:21 pm Saratoga (Race 5) – Gailhorsewind +350
Linda Rice’s Gailhorsewind is a daughter of the high class Flintshire who brings a decent level of form into Race 5 at Saratoga and she looks ready to pay a visit to the winners circle on what will be her fourth lifetime start. If she runs close to her penultimate outing where she finished half a length second behind Isle Of White in a $90,000 Maiden Special Weight at Belmont Park then she’ll go very close indeed and she has a nice draw in stall three which will also aid her chances.
3:55 pm Saratoga Race 6 – He’s No Lemon +350
A competitive $105,000 Allowance Optional Claiming event is Race 6 at Saratoga and a case can be made for many here but He’s No Lemon, who has won twice in the grade, looks to have an outstanding chance of winning again. Graham Motion’s gelding is two from two around here and has finished third in a Grade 3 contest so there is plenty of ability there. His latest start with a fifth placed finish in this grade at Belmont Park last month but that was his first start for eight months so big improvement can be expected and he should go very close.
5:39 pm Saratoga Race 9 – Jouster +350
The penultimate race at Saratoga is also the best race on the card which is the $150,000 Grade 3 Lake George Stakes and Jouster should have too much for her rivals here. She has three wins from seven starts, one of which was at a higher level in the Grade 2 Appalachian Stakes two starts ago and she is likely to go off favourite in this but it is clear to see why. She’s good enough to finish second to Domain Expertise by a nose in the Florida Oaks at Tampa Bay downs and on her best form she’ll win this.
