There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Friday, including at Saratoga race track. Here are four runners which we think look to be a class above the opposition in their respective races. Let’s dive in and take a look at some potentially lucrative plays.
3:55 pm Saratoga (Race 6) – Winning Factor 12/1
Race 6 at Saratoga is a $105,000 Allowance Optional Claiming contest over a mile and an eighth on the turf and the horse in gate number six, Winning Factor, can take this one. This son of The Factor has won twice at Saratoga both of which were at around this distance so, after numerous good efforts at this level at Belmont Park and Aqueduct, he can strike on his return to this course.
4:29 pm Saratoga (Race 7) – Public Sector 2/1
The hotly contested $200,000 Grade 2 Hall Of Fame Stakes is Race 7 at Saratoga and I like the look of Chad Brown’s Kingman colt, Public Sector, who won here on debut and looks to have plenty more to come. Since that win here on debut he has been placed in Grade 2 level at Belmont Park before finishing down the field in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, which may have come too soon for him. Connections then decided to give him a six month break and he has returned with form figures of 212 so another bold showing can be expected.
5:05 pm Saratoga (Race 8) – Art Collector 3/1
Art Collector was well fancied when finishing a disappointing eighth in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile but a change of scenery to William Mott’s yard may just reignite the fire in his belly and he could have too much for the likes of Jesus’ Team and Night Oops in Race 8 at Saratoga. He is a Grade 2 winner who shapes as though he is capable of winning a Grade 1 at around a mile and a mile and an eighth so this should be well within his compass.
5:39 pm Saratoga (Race 9) – Lazuli 8/1
The penultimate race at Saratoga is the hotly contested $200,000 Grade 3 Troy Stakes which will take plenty of winning but Lazuli, who has been sent over by Charlie Appleby from the UK, can outspeed them for team Godolphin. He is a dual Group 3 winner in England who, at four years old, is relatively young for a sprinter so there could be some improvement in him and if his jockey Luis Saez can get a good spot in behind the leaders from the ten post then he should go close.
