3:30 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 1) – Buzz Of New York 6/5 (2-star play)
The daughter of Toronado has finished on the board in five of her six starts at this distance including when winning an allowance optional claimer at this venue three starts back. The five-year-old has acquitted herself well in similar contests in two subsequent starts finishing runner-up over a mile-and-one-sixteenth on each occasion. The pick comes into this contest on the back of a 47.40 four furlong breeze and looks up to delivering career win number three with Juan Hernandez up.
4:31 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 3) – Faiza 8/5 (2-star play)
Trained by Bob Baffert the $725,000 two-year-old purchase was a top class juvenile last year winning both starts including by a head in the Grade 1 Starlet Stakes over a mile-and-one-sixteenth at Los Alamitos in December. Raced in third early on that day and filled the same position in the early stages of January’s Grade 3 Las Virgenes Stakes on her first start at this track. Scored by a half-a-length that day and is selected to maintain her unbeaten record.
6:01 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 6) – Cliquish 8/5 (2-star play)
Trainer Philip D’Amato can boast a 16% strike-rate (15/93) at this meeting and his Bernadini filly looks capable of improving on that with a victory here. The three-year-old showed ability when making her debut in a six-and-a-half-furlong maiden special weight at this venue a month ago. Racing from off the pace in a six runner field she came home six-and-a-quarter-lengths fourth. Tried to challenge four wide that day and dropping in grade she looks up to taking this contest.
