An expensive purchase at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale back in 2021 the son of City Of Light shown signs of ability in 2 maiden special weight starts. The second of those came on his main track debut when nine-and-three-quarter-lengths 6th over a mile at Del Mar in November. Gelded subsequently he should appreciate this drop in grade. Has a good jockey in Flavien Prat up and is taken to deliver a victory racing on lasix for the first time.
5:30 pm Santa Anita (Race 6) – Justique 4/5 (3-star play)
Impressed when getting off the mark over five-and-a-half-furlongs on debut at Del Mar back in July. Suffered a surprise defeat when third in a Grade 2 here subsequently but returned to winning ways in the Listed Desi Amaz Stakes over 7 furlongs back at Del Mar in November. Demonstrated solid form in the mornings of late with a string of works here and while slowly away on all 3 previous starts is selected to register a first Graded stakes success.
7:00 pm Santa Anita (Race 9) – Lincoln Hawk 5/2 (2-star play)
Ended his career with Richard Baltas by finishing 4th in the mile-and-a-quarter Grade 2 San Marcos Stakes at Santa Anita in January last year. Delivered 2nd-place finishes on both starts since joining the Philip D’Amato barn including over a mile-and-a-sixteenth at Del Mar early last month. Step back up in distance is no issue and Flavien Prat looks capable of steering the Irish-bred son of Mehmas to victory here with both previous wins coming at this venue.
