There is plenty of great horse racing across America on Saturday, including at Santa Anita race track. We have been in fine form with our picks for a long time now and we are up +132.35 units with our race selections to our recommended stakes dating back to August 5, 2021. Let’s keep it rolling!
Here are our best bets for today’s action at Santa Anita race track.
1:10 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 1) – Siskany 8/5 (2-star play)
The five-year-old has shown good form so far this year winning Graded races in the UAE and in the two mile Grade 2 Belmont Gold Cup at Belmont Park in June. Since then the gelding has gone on to register a one-and-a-half-length third in a 1m4f Group 1 contest, the Preis Von Europa at Koln in September. The son of Dubawi represents the powerful Godolphin operation and looks capable of providing them with a winner in the opener.
2:30 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 3) – Cody’s Wish 9/5 (2-star play)
The son of Curlin delivered a head victory at Keeneland when racing in this event 12 months ago. Since then the five-year-old has won three of his four starts with two of those victories coming at the highest level. Bill Mott’s entire put a surprise defeat in the mile-and-one-eighth Whitney Stakes at Saratoga in August when dropped to seven furlongs to take the Grade 2 Vosburgh Stakes at Aqueduct subsequently and he is taken to go back-to-back in this race.
3:50 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 5) – Goodnight Olive 6/5 (2-star play)
The Chad Brown-trained mare delivered a two-and-a-half-length victory in this contest last year and has show good form in winning twice from four starts since. The most recent of those victories saw the Ghostzapper mare record a neck triumph in the seven furlong Bed O Roses Stakes, a Grade 2 event at Belmont Park in June. Irad Ortiz’s mount makes her first start since a second on a muddy track at Saratoga in August and from an inside stall looks up to scoring here.
4:30 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 6) – Mawj 4/1 (1-star play)
The three-year-old performed well earlier in the year winning each of her four starts in 2023. The filly was making her first appearance since May when delivering a half-length victory in the Grade Queen Elizabeth II Cup over a mile-and-one-eighth at Keeneland last month. The drop back in distance is no issue for Saeed bin Suroor’s filly who will be ridden by Oisin Murphy who has been on board the filly for each of her last two victories.
5:50 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 8) – Mostahdaf 5/2 (2-star play)
UK trainer John Gosden won the Breeders’ Cup Turf with Enable back in 2018 and his representative has shown up well so far this year winning three of his four starts including twice at the top level. The most recent of those victories came in the mile-and-five-sixteenth’s Juddmonte International Stakes at York in August and having performed well over this distance in the past he is taken to complete a Grade 1 hat-trick with Jim Crowley taking the ride.
