5:02 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 3) – Maeve Of Connaught 3/1 (2-star play)
Maeve Of Connaught showed ability when placed twice in Ireland and while she could finish only 7th over a mile and 1/16th at Del Mar in August on her first start for Patrick Gallagher, she performed much better when dropped slightly in distance to finish half-a-length 2nd over a mile at the same venue a month ago.
She was slowly away and appeared to suit being ridden with restraint that day and the Tamayuz filly looks capable of breaking her maiden with Umberto Rispoli taking the ride.
7:08pm ET Santa Anita (Race 7) – Square Cat 2/1 (2-star play)
Brian J Koriner’s Square Cat put a couple of below-par efforts in allowance optional claiming company behind him when finishing a length 2nd when dropped to 5 furlongs at Del Mar just under a month ago.
Racing from off the pace that day, the son of Square Eddie finished strongly under today’s rider Tyler Baze. While he steps up in distance this time, he should be suited by the track and is selected to double his career tally.
8:08pm ET Santa Anita (Race 9) – Thorne House 8/5 (2-star play)
Thorne House delivered a 2nd-place finish over 5 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Santa Anita in his debut in early June and went one better when making all to win by 2 1/4 lengths over 6 furlongs at Del Mar in August.
He followed up in impressive fashion over an extra half-furlong in an allowance optional claimer at the same venue at the start of last month and looks capable of winning his first start on turf with Abel Cedillo up.
