There is plenty of great horse racing across America on Friday, including at Santa Anita race track. We have been in fine form with our picks for a long time now and we are up +129.55 units with our race selections to our recommended stakes dating back to August 5, 2021. Let’s keep it rolling!
Here are our best bets for today’s action at Santa Anita race track.
3:05 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 2) – Mirinda 8/5 (2-star play)
A $190,000 purchase as a yearling the daughter of Mitole made the perfect start to her racing career when drawing six-and-a-half-lengths clear of her rivals when making all the running in a five-and-a-half-furlong maiden special weight at Del Mar in September. The youngster has been in good form in the mornings since including when delivering a 48.40 four furlong work here recently and is taken to maintain her unbeaten record with her jockey from Del Mar Mike Smith up.
5:00 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 5) – Big Evs 3/1 (2-star play)
The European raider has shown good form in the UK this year winning three of his four starts since suffering a defeat over this distance on debut at the end of May. That defeat came when fading in the final furlong when tackling older rivals in the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes over this distance in August. The Blue Point colt returned to the winners enclosure when taking a Group 2 at Doncaster and he is taken to complete a double.
5:40 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 6) – Tamara 4/5 (3-star play)
Richard Mandella has won this race three times in the past and his representative has impressed in winning both previous starts most recently by six-and-three-quarter-lengths when racing close to the pace in the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante over seven furlongs at Del Mar. The filly had previously taken out a maiden special weight over half-a-furlong shorter and stepping up in trip she looks up to staying unbeaten following a 1:00.80 five furlong work at this track.
7:00 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 8) – Locked 7/2 (2-star play)
The son of Gun Runner caught the eye when three-and-a-half-lengths third in a six furlong maiden special weight at Saratoga on debut but has won both of his subsequent starts. The second of those outings came when delivering a Grade 1 victory over this distance in taking the Breeders Futurity at Keeneland in early October. The juvenile remains open to improvement and having won from off the pace and when racing prominently he is selected to complete a hat-trick.
8:10 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 10) – Hejazi 7/5 (2-star play)
The three-year-old took four starts to break his maiden but did so when making all the running in a six-and-a-half-furlong maiden special weight held on a good main track here in June. The Bernardini colt has acquitted himself well at stakes level since including when runner-up in the seven furlong Lafayette Stakes at Keeneland in April. Bob Baffert’s colt has advertising his well-being with a string of works in recent weeks and is expected to prove hard to beat.
