4:30 pm Santa Anita (Race 2) – Bella Renella 2/1 (2-star play)
Registered a victory by a nose when racing from off the pace in a six-and-a-half-furlong $12,500 claiming contest here at the end of January last year. Claimed following that effort and has registered victories in both starts for current connections including over the same track at this level just under a year ago. Delivered a number of fair five furlong works here in recent weeks and is taken to register a victory on her first start of the year.
4:59 pm Santa Anita (Race 3) – Talklessworkmore 4/5 (3-star play)
The five-year-old gelding takes the eye here having registered good efforts in defeat here in both starts since returning from a break. Followed up a third place finish in a $20,000 allowance optional claimer on turf with a one-and-a-quarter-length second having tried to make all when making his main track debut here early last month. Flavien Prat, on board last time out retains the ride and with a good draw in three the pair are selected to deliver a win.

The son of Lord Nelson has delivered on the board finishes in all four previous starts. The most recent of those came when beaten a neck into second in a mile maiden special weight at this venue in December. The Bob Baffert-trained rig should have no issues with the drop back to six furlongs and making his first start in a maiden claiming contest can help jockey Juan Hernandez improve on his impressive 24% strike-rate (44/183) at this meeting.
6:36 pm Santa Anita (Race 6) – Big Summer 7/5 (2-star play)
The Carla Gaines trainee has demonstrated that she is up to competing at stakes level in recent months finishing in the first two in such races in each of her last three starts. The second of those saw her deliver a three-quarters-of-a-length victory in a six-and-a-half-furlong stakes event on a good turf course here in January. Suffered a neck defeat back on a firm track over the same track and trip subsequently and looks up to returning to winning ways.
7:40 pm Santa Anita (Race 8) – Eleuthera 5/2 (2-star play)
Performing well in recent starts and failed by a length to deliver a second career success when runner-up in an allowance optional claiming contest over a mile here at the end of January. Advertised her well-being with a solid 50.40 four furlong work on the main track here recently and with a good draw looks capable of confirming form with the third home from her last start Sunshine Babe to register a victory for handler Ben Cecil.
