5:41 pm Santa Anita (Race 5) – Closing Remarks 5/2
A winner on debut at Del Mar in August 2020, she has contested solely stakes company in ten subsequent starts. In her last three starts, she has raced in Grade 1 company, finishing second in the Del Mar Oaks back in August. That form is far and away the best in this field and she takes a massive drop in class for today’s assignment. On these terms, she should prove extremely tough to beat, especially as she runs on Lasix for the first time.
7:45 pm Santa Anita (Race 9) – Nice Ice 2/1
Winning seven of her 29 starts, Ruben Alvarado’s mare brings plenty of experience and has an excellent chance of notching up win number 10. She has won two of her last four starts, winning a $72,000 allowance optional claimer over track and distance two starts ago. She’s not the most consistent, outlined by her most recent run at Los Alamitos, but she has a good record at Santa Anita and takes a drop in grade. Flavien Plat takes over and she’s tough to get away from.
4:01 pm Parx (Race 9) – Too Boss 4/1
Todd Pletcher’s son of El Padrino has run to a very high standard in five career starts and should prove too classy for this field. Graduating at the second attempt with victory at Aqueduct, he finished third in the Grade 3 Bayshore back at that venue on her fourth start. He doubled his tally when making his track debut in December, racing wide by edging clear in a $42,000 contest. He has a much better draw today and edged up slightly in grade, he should still prove too strong for these rivals from stall one.
