Here are our best bets for today’s action at Parx race track.
12:55 pm ET Parx (Race 1) – Princess Kaira 2/1 (2-star play)
Princess Kaira has shown that she is more than capable of competing at this level having built on 3 solid efforts in defeat when delivering a 1 1/4 length success over 5 1/2 furlongs at Parx on her penultimate start.
She came home 5 lengths 3rd in an 8-runner field when upped to 7 furlongs there a week later and, making her first start since the end of August, the daughter of Cairo Prince is selected to register a 5th career win with Andy Hernandez booked to ride.
1:49 pm ET Parx (Race 3) – Queen Cordelia 8/5 (2-star play)
Queen Cordelia failed by a head to get off the mark in a $16,000 maiden claiming contest over 5 furlongs on turf at Parx in early July, but was subsequently awarded the race due to interference.
She put a disappointing 4th in a $12,500 claiming contest over 6 1/2 furlongs there subsequently behind her when a neck 2nd over 6 furlongs on a good main track just under a month ago. Now she looks up to going one better for the powerful Frankie Pennington/Jamie Ness combination.
2:16 pm ET Parx (Race 4) – Marion Grace 6/5 (2-star play)
Marion Grace’s 2 starts to date have both come in state-bred stakes events, including when debuting with a 2-length 2nd having finished strongly in a 5 1/2 furlong event at Parx in August. She was a 4 1/2 length 4th over a furlong further there subsequently.
She has no timed works since that effort on September 24, but she sets the standard on form and is taken to get off the mark at the third attempt now dropping markedly in grade with regular pilot Anthony Y Nunez riding.
