3:37 pm ET Parx (Race 7) – Irie Empress 3/1 (2-star play)
Irie Empress finished runner-up on 4 of her first 5 starts, including when beaten 3 3/4 lengths into 2nd in a $40,000 maiden claimer over 6 furlongs at Parx on her penultimate start.
She got off the mark when switched to a maiden special weight over 7 furlongs at the end of March, and the drop in trip is no issue. She is taken to defy a wide draw to complete a double for trainer Herold O Whylie with regular pilot Dexter Haddock again in the saddle.
4:31 pm ET Parx (Race 9) – Secret Alliance 2/1 (2-star play)
Secret Alliance broke his maiden at the third time of asking when registering a 3-length victory in a maiden special weight over 6 furlongs at this venue in February. He raced close to the pace that day and employed similar tactics when 5th, having faded late on in a mile and 1/8th stakes contest at Laurel last month.
The drop in trip today is a positive and he can help jockey Kendrick Carmouche improve on his impressive 32% strike-rate (14/44) at this meet.
4:58 pm ET Parx (Race 10) – Tiz Gracie 5/2 (2-star play)
Tiz Gracie has shown good form of late, including when finishing on the board in a couple of starter events at this venue. She was beaten 3/4 of a length into 2nd over this trip last month, but delivered an improved figure on that occasion.
With Frankie Pennington, on board for the mare’s last 3 starts, again in the saddle, the daughter of budget sire Talent Search is taken to registering a 4th career success and her first since joining the Scott Lake barn.
