12:22 pm ET Parx (Race 2) – Pontiffany 2/1 (2-star play)
Pontiffany was claimed by her current connections following a head 2nd having led in the straight in a similar race to this over 7 furlongs at Parx in December. She went one better when stepping up to a $12,500 claiming event over 6 1/2 furlongs there subsequently.
The slight drop in distance today shouldn’t prove an issue as she has placed over this trip in the past and the daughter of Pontiff is taken to help jockey Mychel J Sanchez to improve on his 19% strike-rate (13/67) at this meeting.
1:43 pm ET Parx (Race 5) – Strugar 8/5 (2-star play)
Strugar won and placed in starter optional claiming contests at Belterra Park in 2022 and joined the Jamie Ness barn following a 2-length victory in a $25,000 claiming race over 6 1/2 furlongs at Turfway Park at the end of last month.
The switch to a starter event today should prove no issue and with a top jockey in Frankie Pennington riding, the son of Hard Spun is selected to make his first start at this venue a winning one.
2:37 pm ET Parx (Race 7) – Twisted Ride 8/5 (2-star play)
Twisted Ride has placed 2nd twice in 4 starts since making all to take an allowance event over 7 furlongs at Parx in August in his debut for trainer Michael Moore.
The second of those efforts came in a 6 1/2 furlong stakes race at this track in November and while he disappointed at that level subsequently it’s of note that that the 4 1/4 length 5th came on a sloppy track. Ruben Silvera is a positive jockey booking and he can steer the 4-year-old to a 4th victory.
