12:40 pm Parx (Race 1) – Samurai Saint 5/2 (2-star play)
The five-year-old has performed with credit at this level in recent times including when a length third over seven furlongs here in June. The gelding has finished off the board twice subsequently but racing extremely wide around the turn won’t have helped when five lengths fifth over the same track and trip last month. Luis A Rodriguez Castro, on board that day is again in the saddle and he can steer the son of First Samurai to victory.

Successful nine times in a 37 race career to date the eight-year-old showed good form when winning a starter optional claiming contest over six furlongs at Laurel in early May. The pick has acquitted himself well in two outings since including when four-and-a-quarter-lengths fifth in a similar contest at the same venue last month. The son of Algorithms has advertised his well-being with a couple of works this month and is taken to register a fourth win at this venue.

The daughter of Alternation has finished on the board in three of her four starts since delivering a five-and-a-quarter-length victory when debuting for trainer Daniel Velazquez in a seven furlong $12,500 starter optional claiming contest at Laurel in early February. The seven-year-old’s most recent effort saw her suffer a three-and-a-quarter-length defeat when third over five-and-a-half-furlongs at Delaware Park last month and she looks up to returning to the winners’ enclosure with regular jockey Angel Castillo booked to ride.
