5:12 pm Monmouth Park (Race 11) – Customer Spending 7/2 (2-star play)
The Grade 3 Eatontown Stakes is the second of four consecutive stakes events, all of which are highly competitive affairs, and this female only race can go to Consumer Spending who could be set for a fruitful four-year-old campaign.
Chad Brown’s classy filly won a Grade 2 at Belmont Park last season and will come on from a recent second at the same course so I am expecting a big effort from her here.
5:40 pm Monmouth Park (Race 12) – Artorius 3/1 (2-star play)
Chad Brown saddles another nice horse here in the shape of Artorius who showed a very good level of form last season and comes into this off the back of an impressive workout at Belmont Park.
This lightly-raced son of Arrogate was an easy winner of the Curlin Stakes last July and the general feeling is that this Juddmonte owned colt is a Grade 1 horse so this Grade 3 should be well within his compass.
6:08 pm Monmouth Park (Race 13) – Tribhuvan 9/5 (2-star play)
A field of six older horses go to post for the Monmouth Stakes over a mile and an eighth on the turf and they all have to go some to beat the evergreen seven-year-old Tribhuvan.
Florent Geroux’s mount is a dual Grade 1 winner, one of which was here in the United Nations two seasons ago, and he is the standout performer in this so hopefully Geroux can get him out of the gates quickly and into a prominent position early.
6:35 pm Monmouth Park (Race 14) – Notah 9/2 (1-star play)
There’s some nice colts and geldings lining up in the finale at Monmouth Park which is a six furlong Allowance on the dirt and I like the chances of the colt in stall five, Notah, who is improving nicely.
His speed figures have been improving with each run this campaign and he was only beaten a neck and a nose when third over course and distance last time out so, with more improvement to come, he can win.
