He showed plenty of promise in five starts for Mark Casse, including when third over a mile in an allowance optional claimer at Churchill Downs in May last year. He changed trainers prior to a good third over a mile-and-one-sixteenth on turf at the same venue in May and delivered a first stakes victory over the same trip at Lone Star Park subsequently. He shaped as if further would suit that day and is taken to complete a double for trainer Steve Asmussen.
2:39 pm ET Kentucky Downs (Race 5) – Amalfi Princess 3/1 (2-star play)
She was the winner of a similar race to this over six furlongs at Belmont Park in May, the daughter of Temple City showed up well when runner-up in a minor stakes contest over a mile at Canterbury the following month. She faded late on over the same trip back in an allowance optional claimer at Saratoga in July. She has shown winning form here in the past and reverting back to a sprint she looks up to recording career win number four.
4:57 pm ET Kentucky Downs (Race 9) – In Love 7/2 (2-star play)
She showed good form last year including following up a victory by two-and-a-quarter-lengths in a listed event over this course and distance with a triumph in the Grade 1 Keeneland Turf Mile in October. She could finish only seventh in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Mile at Del Mar subsequently and while yet to trouble the judge in two starts this campaign they have both come at the top level and the gelding is taken to score down in grade.
