There is plenty of great horse racing across America on Thursday, including at Keeneland race track. We have been on fire with our picks for a long time now and are up +282.84 units with our race selections to our recommended stakes dating back to August 5, 2021. We hit 3 winners in 3 winners yesterday, good for a profit of +11.6 units. Let’s keep it rolling!
Here are our best bets for today’s action at Keeneland race track.
3:40 pm Keeneland (Race 6) – Major Fed 9/2 (1-star play)
Race 6 at Keeneland is a $130,000 Allowance Optional Claiming event, which features 6 older horses doing battle over an extended mile on the dirt. I like the chances of Tyler Gaffalione’s mount, Major Fed, who recorded his highest speed figure when finishing third over course and distance back in April. He showed up well for a long way on that occasion, which was in this grade and under today’s jockey. So if he runs close to that form, he’ll go close.
4:12 pm Keeneland (Race 7) – Champagne Lady 7/2 (2-star play)
A field of sixteen fillies are mares go to post for this hotly contested Allowance in which a case can be made for many but none more so than Champagne Lady who is a lightly-raced five-year-old and could still have improvement in her. She has hit the board in 6 of her 9 starts and should come on a good amount from a second-place effort at Kentucky Downs last month, which was her first start for nearly 3 months. I like her chances here.
4:44 pm Keeneland (Race 8) – Ethereal Road 8/1 (1-star play)
D. Wayne Lukas’s Ethereal Road is a stakes winning son of Quality Road and he represents value against the likes of Creative Minister and Saint Tapit in this Allowance Optional Claimer over a mile and an eighth on the dirt. Form figures at this course read 74, but they were in Grade 1 and Grade 3 company — so this take should be much easier and it will be somewhat disappointing should he not finish in the first 3.
5:16 pm Keeneland (Race 9) – Grand Entrance 8/1 (1-star play)
The finale at Keeneland is an open looking $100,000 Maiden Special Weight for 2-year-old fillies and one who can go well is the Todd Pletcher trained filly in stall 9, Grand Entrance, who ran with credit when finishing third on debut at Belmont At The Big A last month. She was slow out of the gates and had to come wide before staying on nicely down the stretch on that debut run over a mile so this step up to an extended mile will suit for her second career start.
