The daughter of Street Sense took a step forward when racing from the front prior to fading late on when five-and-a-quarter-lengths third stepped up to a mile at the same venue 4 weeks later. Brad Cox’s filly remains open to improvement and looks capable of delivering a victory with Flavien Prat booked to ride.
3:40 pm Keeneland (Race 6) – Leading Contender 7/5 (2-star play)
Down the field at Saratoga when making his sole start at 3, the son of Gun Runner showed improved form following a gelding operation when breaking his maiden over a mile at Monmouth Park in July. The 4-year-old went on to deliver a triple figure speed figure in finishing two-and-three-quarter-lengths second over a mile-and-one-eighth in a Saratoga allowance and he looks capable of helping trainer Chad Brown improve on his impressive 50% strike rate (4 of 8) at this meeting.
4:12 pm Keeneland (Race 7) – Vergara 9/5 (2-star play)
A Listed winner at Kentucky Downs as a 3-year-old the pick went on to register her first victory of the season when successful by three-quarters-of-a-length in the Grade 3 Aristocrat Ladies Marathon over a mile-and-five-sixteenths at the same venue last month. Joel Rosario’s mount has placed in Grade 2 company in the past and the Noble Mission filly is selected to register a victory here following a 1:13.20 6-furlong work at Fair Hills just over a week ago.
