4:12 Keeneland (Race 7) – Malibu Springs 6/1 (1-star play)
Race 7 at Keeneland features some well bred maidens going to post over a mile and a sixteenth and one who can shed that maiden tag is J. Kent Sweezey’s Malibu Springs who comes out of gate five. He is coming along nicely with form figures of 542 from three starts and he put in a solid workout here ten days ago so Flavien Prat’s mount could take some stopping.
4:44 pm Keeneland (Race 8) – Haughty 4/1 (1-star play)
This is an open Allowance event on paper with the likes of Sinfiltre, Lovely Princess and Not So Close all to be feared but I like the chances of Haughty. This filly has a bit of class about her. She has been highly tried since a juvenile which includes wins in Listed and Grade 2 company along the way but she hasn’t seen the winners’ circle for over a year now and will welcome this drop in class.
5:19 pm Keeneland (Race 9) – Dazzling Blue 9/2 (1-star play)
Brad Cox has yet to win the Grade 2 Lexus Raven Run Stakes but he could be about to this time around as his Dazzling Blue has been catching pigeons on the gallops and has more improvement to come on the track. She was trying her heart out all the way to the line when finishing second in an extended six furlong Grade 3 at Belmont Park in July and this seven furlong trip could be the making of her.
