4:44 pm Keeneland (Race 8) – Star Devine 6/1 (1-star play)
Race 8 at Keeneland is the $250,000 Giant’s Causeway Stakes which is one for the female division over an extended five furlong trip on the turf and I like the chances of Star Devine who can go one better than last year’s second in this race.
Jorge Abreu’s mare was beaten by the high-class Campanelle last year and I fancy her to win this time around given the fact she has more experience now and comfortably won a Black Type contest at Aqueduct last time out.
5:16 pm Keeneland (Race 9) – Demolition Duke 6/1 (1-star play)
A field of eleven three-year-old colts and geldings go to post for the Grade 3 Stonestreet Lexington Stakes in which the Brad Cox trained First Mission will likely go off favourite but it’s his other runner, Demolition Duke, who can land the spoils.
Flavien Prat’s mount is a late developer having only made his racecourse debut in February but he was an easy three length winner that day and followed it up with a good second in an Allowance Optional Claimer and there looks to be more improvement to come.
5:48 pm Keeneland (Race 10) – With The Moonlight 5/2 (2-star play)
The penultimate contest at Keeneland features some top class fillies and mares who are looking to land Grade 1 honours in the Jenny Wiley Stakes and Charlie Appleby’s With The Moonlight will take all the beating in this.
There’s no doubt In Italian and Queen Goddess will have a say but With The Moonlight is a daughter of Frankel who has won a Saratoga Oaks and comes into this off the back of two routine Grade 2 wins in Dubai so I wouldn’t want to be taking her on just yet.
6:20 pm Keeneland (Race 11) – Ironic Twist 15/1 (1-star play)
Mark Glatt’s Ironic Twist is a lightly-raced un-exposed daughter of Distorted Humor who has won two of her three starts to date and I fancy her to put up a bold showing in the finale.
She was third in this Allowance Optional Claiming grade over seven furlongs last time out whilst showing signs that this drop back to an extended six furlongs will suit and she has been given a nice draw in stall four from which Flavien Prat has plenty of options.
