Horse Racing picks for Keeneland race track on Friday, October 22: Glynn for the win

Horse racing at Belmont Park

There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Friday, including at Keeneland race track. We are still absolutely on fire with our plays, having profited 133.75 units dating back to Aug. 5 after going 4-for-4 on Thursday (up 20 units). Here are 4 runners whom we think look to be a class above the opposition in their respective races on Friday. It’s time to dive in and take a look at some potentially lucrative plays.

4:12 pm Keeneland (Race 7) – Goodnight Olive 6/5

Race 7 at Keeneland is a $84,000 Maiden Special Weight over six furlongs on the dirt surface and Chad Brown’s Goodnight Olive should win this. This daughter of Ghostzapper showed a very good level of ability when finishing second on debut behind Mischiefful at Gulfstream Park back in March, which was over the same trip as this, so if her trainer has her ready to go after seven months off then she should have too much speed for her rivals here.

4:44 pm Keeneland (Race 8) – Glynn County 7/2

It took Michael Maker’s Glynn County six attempts to shed his maiden tag but he hasn’t looked back since then as he’s been running well at the top level of late and can win the $150,000 Grade 3 Sycamore Stakes, Race 8 at Keeneland. Two Emmys could take some beating here but he’s drawn out in stall twelve and Glynn County has the box seat in one and he is also one from one here at Keeneland, so with all this in mind, he looks the more solid play dropping back in grade.

5:16 pm Keeneland (Race 9) – Tejano Twist 3/1

The penultimate race on Keeneland’s Friday card is a competitive $86,000 Allowance Optional Claiming event for two-year-olds over an extended six furlongs on the dirt and Tejano Twist looks set to go well in this. This Chestnut gelding has been running well in Black Type races as is shown with form figures of 22 from his last two starts and he wasn’t beaten far in either of those so from a good draw in stall five he could take some catching in this.

5:48 pm Keeneland (Race 10) – Lucy’s Cakes Fly 3/1

An open looking $43,000 Starter Allowance is the tenth and final race at Keeneland and I like the look of Lucy’s Cakes Fly who was only beaten a head in this company at Saratoga last time and with a similar effort she should go close. She was dealt a wide trip over a mile that day and covered more ground than most so this step up to a mile and a sixteenth shouldn’t be an issue, especially given the fact she is drawn down towards the rail as she has plenty of options from there.
