1:00 pm Keeneland (Race 1) – Beautiful and Bold 9/5 (2-star play)
The winner of a maiden special weight over five-and-a-half-furlongs at Delaware Park back in August the filly has acquitted herself well in the main since then, including when runner-up 3 times. Delivered a fair fourth when contesting a mile-and-a-sixteenth allowance optional claimer at Oaklawn Park when last in action earlier this month. Gets a drop in grade to $75,000 claiming company here and she looks up to defying a wide post position to deliver a second career success.
2:36 pm Keeneland (Race 4) – Malibu Mike 9/5 (2-star play)
The son of Malibu Moon showed that a second victory might not be far away when finishing one-and-a-quarter-lengths third in a mile allowance on a fast main track at Turfway Park on his penultimate outing. Below that form when a change of tactics saw him race from off the pace in an allowance optional claimer over the same track early last month. The drop in grade here should help and he is taken to return to the winners’ enclosure.
3:08 pm Keeneland (Race 5) – We The People 4/5 (3-star play)
Performed well when beaten one-and-a-half-lengths under Ricardo Santana Jr in the Grade West Virginia Derby over a mile-and-one-eighth at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort in August last year. The son of Constitution failed to shine when down the field eighth at Parx in a Grade 1 event on his only subsequent start. The easier contest here is a positive following a series of good works in the morning including a 48.71 4-furlong breeze on April 21.
4:44 pm Keeneland (Race 8) – War Like Goddess 3/5 (3-star play)
Delivered an impressive two-and-three-quarter-length victory when contesting the Grade 1 Turf Classic Invitational over this trip at Aqueduct in October when making her penultimate start. Subsequently deliver a 3-length third when racing from off the pace in the Breeders Cup Turf, a Grade 1 contest over the same trip at this venue in early November. Given a break since then she has shown up well in the mornings in recent weeks and is taken to return to winning ways.
5:16 pm Keeneland (Race 9) – A La Carte 4/5 (3-star play)
Demonstrated plenty of promise when debuting with a half-length second in a 6-furlong maiden special weight at Gulfstream Park at the start of February. Built on that promising effort when going one better in delivering a one-and-a-half-length victory over the same course and distance the following month. Tackles winners for the first time here but hails from a good yard in that of Bill Mott and looks capable of completing a double stepping up to 7 furlongs.
