1:00 pm ET Keeneland (Race 1) – Shadrack 7/5 (2-star play)
The six time winner came within a length-and-three-quarters of adding to that when runner-up in a $50,000 allowance optional claiming contest over a mile-and-one-sixteenth at Sam Houston Race Park in January. Subsequently changed trainer and gets a welcome drop in grade here on his first start for the Caio Caramori barn. The son of Gig Harbor advertisted his wellbeing with a 1:03.60 five furlong breeze here earlier this month and can score for the first time since May last year.
2:04 pm ET Keeneland (Race 3) – Illiogami 8/5 (2-star play)
The five-year-old takes the eye here having delivered a good second place finish when beaten three-quarters-of-a-length over a mile-and-one-sixteenth in a similar race to this on the main track at Churchill Downs in November. Entitled to have improved for her sixth over a mile at Turfway Park when making her seasonal debut at the start of last month and coming into this on the back of a 1:02.40 five furlong work looks up to registering a third career win.
2:36 pm ET Keeneland (Race 4) – Loved 2/1 (2-star play)
The daughter of Medaglia d’Oro made her belated debut when contesting a six furlong maiden special weight contest at Gulfstream Park last month. Came home nine-and-a-quarter-lengths fourth on that occasion and has subsequently shipped to this venue where she’s registered a number of impressive works in the last month. Expected to have improved for that debut effort and with the step up in trip expected to suit she is taken to break her maiden at the second time of asking.
3:40 pm ET Keeneland (Race 6) – Morning Cup 2/1 (2-star play)
The winner of a $50,000 maiden claiming contest over seven furlongs at this venue in October the gelding has delivered three solid efforts subsequently including when four-and-a-quarter-lengths fourth having faded late on in a $50,000 starter event over a mile at Fair Grounds in February. Given a break following that effort the return to sprinting looks likely to suit. The booking of Irad Ortiz is a further positive and the gelding is selected to double his career tally.
5:16 pm ET Keeneland (Race 9) – Interstatedaydream 6/5 (2-star play)
Completed a double when delivering a two-and-a-quarter-length victory in the Grade 2 Indiana Oaks on a good track at Horseshoe Indianapolis in July last year. The daughter of Classic Empire has made just the two subsequent appearances however including when two-and-three-quarter-lengths fourth over the same trip in the Grade 2 Azeri Stakes at Oaklawn Park last month. Trainer Brad Cox can boast an impressive 39% strike-rate (7/18) at this meeting and his mare can help him improve on that.
