2:37 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 6) – Guildsman 9/2 (1-star play)
Race 6 at Gulfstream Park features eleven older horses who go to post for a $28,000 Claiming contest which is taking place over an extended seven furlongs on the turf and one I like here is Michael Maker’s Guildsman who hasn’t won since 2020 but looks to have found a good opportunity here. His top speed figures are good enough to win this so if Tyler Gaffalione can get out and into a handy position from stall eight then he should go close.
3:07 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 7) – Awesome Annmarie 12/1 (1-star play)
Herbert Miller’s Awesome Annmarie is a five-time winner at Gulfstream Park and this evergreen six-year-old looks set to make that six victories in this six furlong Allowance Optional Claiming event. Three of those have been over this distance of six furlongs, one of which was in this grade and she represents value at double figure odds given the fact that she remains in good form.
3:36 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – Panther Island 5/1 (1-star play)
The penultimate race is also the most valuable on the card and this is an Allowance Optional Claimer over five furlongs on the turf which is being run for a purse of $87,000 and it can pay to side with the colt in stall two, Panther Island, who has won four out of five races at this course and could be graded class. This son of Speightstown has been improving with every outing and was a comfortable winner in this grade last time out so I see no reason why he cannot win this under Leonel Reyes who knows him well.
4:05 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 9) – Bullet On Tap 6/1 (1-star play)
A field of nine four-year-old fillies go to post for the finale and this is an open looking Claimer over seven furlongs on the dirt and Bullet On Tap, who was an easy six length winner of a Maiden Claimer here last time out, can strike for Elizabeth Dobles and her team. She broke her maiden at the fifteenth attempt in that victory and I get the impression that we have yet to see the best of her so she is one to keep on side for now.
