There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Wednesday, including at Gulfstream Park race track. We have been in fine form with our picks for some time, and dating back to August 5 we are up 288.25 units.
Here are 4 runners we expect to perform well today. It’s time to dive in and discuss these potentially profitable plays.
3:09 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 5) – Rum Swizzle 9/2
Race 5 at Gulfstream Park is a $60,000 Maiden Special Weight for 3-year-old fillies and one who has an outstanding chance in this is Rum Swizzle, who should be suited by this step up in trip for her 2nd start.
She couldn’t really get involved when finishing 5th over 6 furlongs on her debut, but showed enough to make me think she’ll be much closer this time around and, with her sire being Gun Runner, it is clear to see why a mile trip should be within her compass.
3:40 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 6) – Astroturf 6/1
A field of 10 is set to line up in Race 6 at Gulfstream Park, which is a competitive $54,000 Allowance Optional Claiming event over a mile on the turf and the gelding in stall 8, Astroturf, who has gone close in similar events on his last 2 starts, can find that the third time is the charm.
He’s a 2-time winner at this course and has more than enough ability to win in this grade, so if jockey Tyler Gaffalione can get a nice run through from the top of the stretch then he should be in the mix at the finish.
4:11 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 7) – Smarmy 7/5
The penultimate race on the Gulfstream Park card is another $54,000 Allowance Optional Claiming contest over a mile, but this time it’s on the dirt and Luis Saez’s mount Smarmy is up to winning this.
Philip Bauer’s daughter of Liam’s Map has yet to finish out of the first 3 in 6 starts, which include a good 3rd in this grade 3weeks ago. I fully expect him to find more improvement from that and win this from a handy draw in stall 2.
4:42 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – Sinfulicious 4/1
George Weaver’s Sinfulicious was a big eye-catcher when finishing strongly over an extended 7 furlongs at this track on her debut last month and, with a better break from the stalls this time, she can strike on her 2nd start.
She was slow out of the gates but finished willingly to snatch 3rd over a mile and, although she is dropping back half a furlong, that experience would have done her the world of good and she can take the finale.
