2:53 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 5) – Living Water 8/5 (2-star play)

Race 5 at Gulfstream Park is a six furlong Starter Optional Claiming contest for older horses and they all have to go some to beat Living Water who has more than enough ability to win this. Leonel Reyes’s mount was an easy 3-length winner of an Allowance Optional Claimer over course and distance last December and will be very tough to beat if running close to that kind of form.

3:23 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 6) – Rachel’s Rock 5/2 (2-star play)

A field of six fillies are set to go to post for this $51,000 Allowance Optional Claiming event which looks to be between Anna’s Dream and Rachel’s Rock with preference for the latter Ralph Nick’s trained filly who remains un-exposed. She is 2-of-4 lifetime and the way in which she took apart the field in this company over course and distance last time suggests to me that we could be looking at a potentially graded class filly.

3:53 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 7) – Country Jewel 6/1 (1-star play)

Ruben Gracida’s Country Jewel broke her maiden at the sixth attempt when winning here two starts back and, although she followed up with a disappointing eighth placed finish at Claiming level, I doubt we have seen the best of her and she can go well. This daughter of Street Move impressed in a recent four furlong breeze at Palm Meadows and is the type to get better as she gains more experience so I wouldn’t be writing her off just yet.

4:23 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – Hollywood Honey 8/1 (1-star play)

The finale at Gulfstream Park is a competitive Claiming affair in which a case can be made for many of the runners in this field but none more so than the filly in gate four, Hollywood Honey, who ran a good second over seven furlongs at Tampa Bay on her latest outing. Recent form figures of 2642 have all been in this grade and this step up to an extended mile will suit as she was keeping on all the way to the line last time out.
