2:48 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 5) – Adios Asher 5/2 (2-star play)
Race 5 at Gulfstream Park is a $29,000 Starter Optional Claiming contest over an extended five furlong trip and one I like here is the gelding in gate two, Adios Asher, who has been knocking on the door in recent starts.
Form figures of 3322 from his last four outings have all been at this course and he is ideally drawn to strike on his first start in this grade.
3:18 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 6) – Xy Time 6/1 (1-star play)
Antonio Sano’s Xy Time has been putting in some solid breezes of late and comes into this Starter Allowance with every chance of notching a third career victory for owner and breeder Gelfenstein Farm.
Emisael Jaramillo’s mount is running himself into form as he’s recorded career best speed figures in defeat on his last two starts and this switch to an all-weather surface could bring about some improvement.
3:48 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 7) – Big Data 5/1 (1-star play)
A field of six three-year-olds are set to go to post for this mile Allowance Optional Claiming event in which Howgreatisnate is likely to be a warm order but it’s the horse drawn to his left hand side in stall four, Big Data, who can come out on top.
After three failed attempts to break his maiden, he finally did so when winning by a comfortable four lengths over course and distance last time and that can give him the confidence to follow up here.
4:17 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – Loyal Louie 5/1 (1-star play)
The finale is a hotly contested five furlong Allowance Optional Claimer on the turf in which a case can be made for a fair few in this field but none more so than Loyal Louie who is a course and distance winner and was a good third in a similar contest two starts back.
He is at his best when able to stalk the pace from a wide position, which he should be able to do from his outside draw, and I fancy him to put up a bold showing under top course jockey Leonel Reyes.
