2:40 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 6) – Lucago 5/1 (1-star play)
A field of ten older horses go to post for Race 6 at Gulfstream Park which is a $28,000 Claiming contest over five furlongs on the all-weather track and one I like is the gelding in stall six, Lucago, who went close in a similar contest last time out.
Caio Caramori’s gelding is a four-time winner at this course and recorded a career best speed figure when running second over an extended five furlongs here last time so if he improves again he can win.
3:09 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 7) – Love and Money 2/1 (2-star play)
Cherie DeVaux’s Love And Money is likely to be a warm order in this five furlong Allowance Optional Claiming event and it is clear to see why as she is improving all the time and comes into this with form figures of 22 in this grade.
Tyler Gaffalione’s mount is lightly-raced for a five-year-old with just seven career starts and her form is the best on offer in this race so it is hard to see beyond her especially with the kind of form she is in.
3:38 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – Point Proven 4/1 (2-star play)
This is an open looking Allowance Optional Claimer with Todd Pletcher holding a strong hand with Classic Catch and Point Proven and it’s the latter, Point Proven, who can take the honours.
This son of Gun Runner should come on from a fourth placed effort in this grade at Tampa Bay in January and has been impressive in recent workouts so, with more improvement to come, I like his chances of taking the victory.
4:07 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 9) – Demogorgon 7/2 (2-star play)
The finale at Gulfstream Park is a hotly contested $28,000 Claiming contest which is one for the female division in which a case can be made for many in this field but none more so than Jose Ortiz’s mount, Demogorgon.
She’s a front runner with a genuine attitude and has gone close in this company the last twice so if Ortiz can get her across and into a prominent position from gate twelve then she could take some catching.
