Race 6 at Gulfstream Park is a claiming contest featuring 8 horses who go to post for a purse of $36,000 and one who can go well is the ex-Irish trained Charmed.
Irad Ortiz Jr’s mount is a winner over this extended 5-furlong trip and comes into this after a 3-month break which should have freshened him up nicely and I doubt we have seen the best of him just yet.
3:14 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 7) – Elle Est Forte 9/2 (2-star play)
The Ian Wilkes-trained Elle Est Forte is a nice mare who is having her first start in allowance optional claiming grade and she is good enough to win this judging on her form in 2022.
She finished 2nd on 3 occasions at allowance level last year, and her penultimate 2nd at Aqueduct is good enough to have a say in this, so all looks set for a big effort from a good draw in stall 2.
3:44 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – Scar 6/1 (1-star play)
A field of 10 older horses go to post for this 7-furlong claiming event on the dirt course and Collaborate is likely to prove tough to beat but Scar, who is a 4-time course winner, could upset the likely favourite with the capable Luis Saez on board.
He has a win and 3 2nd-place finishes from 8 starts at this level, so if Saez can get into a good stalking position behind the leaders early then I can see them hitting the front down the stretch and taking the prize.
4:14 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 9) – Worlds On High 7/2 (2-star play)
This is a very competitive claimer which is being run on the turf track over an extended 7 furlongs and it could pay to side with Worlds On High, who is due another win.
His form figures at this course read 1-3-2 and he will be suited by this drop back in trip having looked like he got tired over a mile last time, so it would not be a surprise should he take the finale for Kathleen O’Connell and her team.
