This daughter of Practical Joke is a winner over this distance and was a good 2nd in an Allowance Optional Claimer at this track 2 starts back, so if she runs to that form she should be there at the finish.
3:08 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 7) – Social Engagement 9/2 (1-star play)
A field of 7 fillies and mares go to post for this Starter Optional Claiming contest, which is a competitive affair over an extended mile trip and Social Engagement should go well.
Tyler Gaffalione’s mount is the youngest horse in this field and was a close 2nd in this grade last time out. With the possibility of further improvement, she can put her best foot forward today.
3:37 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – Diamond Cool 5/1 (1-star play)
The penultimate race at Gulfstream Park is an open-looking Allowance for 3-year-olds who have not won more than a maiden, so they are all looking for that elusive second career victory. It coulf go to the gelding in stall 5, Diamond Cool.
His speed figures have been improving and, after easily breaking his maiden over course and distance 2 starts back, he can run well with top jockey Jose Ortiz taking the ride.
4:06 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 9) – Literate 9/2 (1-star play)
Christopher Davis’s Literate showed a determined attitude when swinging wide to gain 2nd in her Maiden Optional Claiming grade debut in December and she looks set to break her maiden in the finale.
She was beaten only a head on that first run and should find dropping back into this company much easier after finishing down the field in a hotly contested Maiden Special Weight last time.
