Gulfstream Park (Race 6) – Light and Path (2-star play)
Race 6 at Gulfstream Park is a five furlong Maiden Claiming contest for two-year-old fillies on the all-weather track in which Light and Path is likely to go off a warm order and it’s clear to see why as Antonio Sano’s filly looks to have found a good opportunity to break her maiden.
She finished eighth on debut then showed a good amount of improvement to finish second on her next start which was over this course and distance so, with that experience under belt, she can win this.
Gulfstream Park (Race 7) – Hot Blooded 9/2 (2-star play)
This is a very competitive $73,000 Allowance Optional Claiming event with the Todd Pletcher trained pair of Colonel Liam and Never Surprised likely to take some beating but I like the chances of the gelding in stall four, Hot Blooded, who is a three time winner at this course.
Two of those were in stakes company and he has been in red hot form this campaign with recent speed figures also being very impressive so all points towards another big effort here.
Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – War Of Ages 6/1 (2-star play)
War Of Ages is a five-time winner at Gulfstream Park and comes into this Starter Optional Claimer in good form having won four of her last six starts and has an outstanding chance of adding to her tally in Race 8.
She knows where the winners’ enclosure is on the all-weather surface and jockey Jaime Torries takes off a handy weight allowance which can only benefit her chances of winning.
Gulfstream Park (Race 9) – Red Hot and Blue 6/1 (2-star play)
A field of nine females go to post for the finale which is a Maiden Special Weight taking place over an extended mile on the turf track and one who can go well is Red Hot and Blue who is a nine-race maiden but has hit the board on five previous occasions.
She has shown a good level of ability in those races and it’s only a matter of time before she breaks her maiden and this looks like a good opportunity to do that.
