Race 6 at Gulfstream Park is a Maiden Special Weight for two-year-old fillies in which the David Fawkes trained Sassy But Precious is likely to be tough to beat, but I like Fortuna Belle who can improve for her debut outing and break her maiden.
She showed up well before tiring late when finishing fifth over six furlongs here last month so, with that run under her belt and this drop back to an extended five furlongs being sure to suit, she should go close.
3:04 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 7) – Sensei Lawrence 3/1 (2-star play)
A field of ten go to post for this $28,000 Claiming event over six furlongs on the dirt and it’s the gelding in the outside stall, Sensei Lawrence, who can come out on top.
This son of Mastery is a dual course winner, one of which was over this distance, and he drops into this grade for the first time having been running well in Allowance Optional Claiming company, so it would not surprise if he wins this well.
3:34 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – Constitution Gal 4/1 (1-star play)
The penultimate contest at Gulfstream Park is a competitive Allowance Optional Claimer for the female division over a five furlong trip on the turf surface and Mark Casse saddles two here with preference for his filly in stall three, Constitution Gal.
Miguel Vasquez’s mount was very impressive when winning by five and a quarter lengths at this level at Woodbine last time out and if she turns up in the same mood here, then the opposition could be playing for places.
4:05 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 9) – Toscanito 12/1 (1-star play)
Antonio Sano’s Toscanito knows what it takes to win around the twists and turns of Gulfstream Park as he’s a two-time winner here and seems to have been overlooked in the finale.
One of those wins was in this Claiming grade and I feel that there could still be more improvement to come from him, so he has every chance of hitting the board at double figures odds here.
