4:21 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – Unified Weekend 4/1 (2-star play)
A field of 7 3-year-old colts and geldings go to post for this $34,000 Starter Allowance which is being run over an extended mile trip on the all-weather surface and this can go to the colt drawn down on the rail, Unified Weekend. Antonio Sano’s charge won a Starter Optional Claimer by five and a half lengths over course and distance back in February so if he turns up in similar form then he will take some stopping.
4:50 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 9) – Dream Of A Day 12/1 (1-star play)
Race 9 at Gulfstream Park is a Claiming contest for the older generation in which a case can be made for a fair few in this field and one that catches the eye is Dream Of A Day who comes into this looking for three wins in a row in this grade. His 2 previous victories have both been over course and distance and he is well drawn in gate five from which his jockey Luca Panici has plenty of options.
5:19 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 10) – Sensei Lawrence 3/1 (2-star play)
David Fawkes’s Sensei Lawrence has been putting in some good performances of late and comes into this Allowance Optional Claimer off the back of a good second in the same company whilst recording some impressive speed figures. This improving four-year-old has plenty of course experience and the general feeling is that he could be in for a fruitful Summer campaign so I am expecting a big performance from him here.
5:49 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 11) – Sea Hunter 11/1 (1-star play)
The finale at Gulfstream Park is the hotly contested English Channel Stakes in which the Mark Casse trained Boppy O is likely to be a warm order but I like the chances of Sea Hunter who is the type to up his game against better opposition. He ran a nice horse in Mooncapture to half a length when second over five furlongs here last time out and I can see him being held up and picking up the pieces with a late run in deep stretch.
