Horse Racing picks for Gulfstream Park race track on Saturday, December 24: Zydeceaux is ready to go

The field passes the finish line for the first time during the 67th running of the Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park

There is plenty of great horse racing across America on Saturday, including at Gulfstream Park race track. We have been in fine form with our picks for a long time now and we are +199.62 units with our race selections to our recommended stakes dating back to August 5, 2021. Let’s keep it rolling!

Here are our best bets for today’s action at Gulfstream Park race track.

12:40 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 2) – Zydeceaux 6/5 (2-star play)

Made all to score by nine lengths in a $16,000 maiden claiming contest over five-and-a-half-furlongs here on debut in August and has followed that up with two good on the board finishes. The most recent of those came when three lengths third over six furlongs in an allowance contest earlier this month. Raced close to the speed in last two starts and the son of Cajun Breeze is selected to double his career tally with Edgard J Zayas up.

1:09 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 3) – Mateo 2/1 (2-star play)

Showed ability in stronger contests including when ten-and-three-quarter-lengths third in a $16,000 maiden claimer over a mile here on his penultimate start prior to delivering a career best length-and-a-half second dropped to this level over the same track and trip earlier this month. Raced six wide at one stage last time out and he is taken to register a first victory at the fifth time of asking following a five furlong breeze at this venue a week ago.

1:39 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 4) – Miss J McKay 2/1 (2-star play)

Demonstrated solid form at Graded stakes level when delivering an eye-catching three-quarters-of-a-length-fourth in the Grade 3 Caress Stakes over five-and-a-half-furlongs at Saratoga three starts back. While Christophe Clement’s mare disappointed when eighth at Pimlico in September she has been given a break since that effort. It’s notable that the five-year-old won this race 12 months ago and she is taken to go back-to-back with Tyler Gaffalione, on board that day up for the first time since March.

3:41 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – Carotari 3/1 (1-star play)

The winner of this race last year the son of Artie Schiller faded late on when seventh in the Grade 3 Troy Stakes over five-and-a-half-furlongs at Saratoga in early August. Made all the running dropped to a regular stakes event for the Laurel Dash over this five furlong trip at Pimlico in September. Off the track since but has delivered a number of solid works at Palm Meadows in recent weeks and looks up to returning to the winners’ enclosure.

4:11 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 9) – Mogalu 5/2 (2-star play)

Broke his maiden over five furlongs on turf here just over a year ago and has delivered some solid efforts since. Return to the synthetic Tapeta track here proved no issue when finishing two-and-a-half-lengths third in a five furlong $12,500 claiming contest here at the start of this month. Tackles a similar contest here and with the extra half-furlong here no issue the three-year-old is selected to score with jockey Irad Ortiz boasting a 26% strike-rate (9/35) at this meeting.
