Horse Racing picks for Gulfstream Park race track on Friday, February 25: Drink the Queen Bourbon Kool-Aid

Horse Racing

There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Friday, including at Gulfstream Park race track. We have been in fine form with our picks for a long time, up 239.15 units dating back to last August.

Here are 4 runners we expect to perform well today. It’s time to dive in and discuss these potentially profitable plays.

3:37 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 7) – Disc Jockey 7/2

Race 7 at Gulfstream Park is a $28,000 Claiming contest over a mile on the dirt and this one can go to Disc Jockey who is dropping into claiming company for the first time and should get back on track here. Saffie Joseph. Jr’s son of Bodemeister won his first two starts at this course before coming unstuck in a stakes race on his third start and was then given nearly 2 years off the track so he has clearly had his issues. However, he returned last month to finish 5th in an Allowance Optional Claimer and — with plenty of improvement to come — he can resume winning ways.

4:11 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – Queen Bourbon 4/1

Ian Wilkes’s Queen Bourbon was very good when breaking her maiden tag at Churchill Downs last time out and now that she has got her head in front she can kick on and win this $61,000 Allowance Optional Claimer at Gulfstream Park, Race 8. Form figures leading up to that win were 232 so she has a good bit of experience now and this drop back to an extended 7 furlongs should play to her strengths from stall one.

4:42 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 9) – Doctor Ron 4/1

The penultimate race at Gulfstream Park in an open looking $34,000 Starter Optional Claiming event over 7 furlongs on the dirt in which a case can be made for most of the field but I like the horse in stall four, Doctor Ron, who was a comfortable winner over six furlongs here on debut last month and can make it 2 wins in 2 starts. He did brilliantly to win as his head was turned at the start and he came out last but he worked his way through the field to win by a length margin and there should be much more to come from him.

5:13 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 10) – Sir Terre 20/1

A field of 9 is set to line up for the 10th and final race at Gulfstream Park which is a $60,000 Maiden Special Weight over a mile and an eighth on the turf and I like one of the outsiders here, Sir Terre, who is the type to get better with age and experience and I’m expecting a big run in this. He’s very lightly-raced for a five-year-old having had just the 5 starts to date, but he has hit the board in his last 3 here and it’s only a matter of time before he gets his head in front.
