2:58 pm Finger Lakes (Race 5) – Blues City 6/1 (1-star play)
Race 5 at Finger Lakes is a $12,600 Claiming race over an extended 4 furlongs and the gelding in stall 4, Blues City, can topple the likely favorite Deputy Flag and win this for Luis Gutierrez and his team. This gelding won 2 races here last season, 1 of which was in Allowance company, and he comes into this off a 6-month break which would have freshened him up nicely so a bold bid is expected.
3:25 pm Finger Lakes (Race 6) – Bosship 2/1 (2-star play)
Chris Englehart’s Bosship has yet to win in 6 starts at Aqueduct but he has shown signs of ability and the change of scenery to Finger Lakes may well bring out some improvement in him so with that in mind he is taken to win this $32,100 Maiden Special Weight over 6 furlongs, Race 6. This is a drop in class having been contesting better races at Aqueduct, and with questions over all of the opposition it wouldn’t surprise should this gelding break his maiden tag here.
3:52 pm Finger Lakes (Race 7) – Tripp Road 8/1 (1-star play)
The penultimate race at Finger Lakes is a $24,000 Allowance for the female division over an extended 5 furlongs and this can go to Tripp Road who is a 3-time course winner and looks set to go well again. Rachel Sell’s consistent 6-year-old mare has hit the board in 14 of her 28 starts to date which is a one in two strike-rate and she looks to have her ideal conditions once again.
4:19 pm Finger Lakes (Race 8) – Big Brown Shoes 5/2 (2-star play)
A field of 9 colts and geldings are set to line up for the 9th and final race at Finger Lakes, which is a $25,800 Allowance over an extended 5 furlongs on the dirt and I like the chances of Big Brown Shoes, who has been running well in valuable Allowance races at Aqueduct recently. Form figures in those races read 344 and if he turns up in the same form then he should win this.
