He delivered a good four-and-a-half-length third when contesting a six furlong claiming event at this level on his final start for previous handler Tom Amoss. Step up to this distance for the first time since October 2021 proved no issue when making all to score by a length in a $35,000 claiming contest over course and distance on 28th January. Mitchell Murrill on board that day is again in the saddle and he can confirm form with runner-up Blue Jays.
5:15 pm Fair Grounds (Race 7) – Flint Ridge 2/1 (2-star play)
He impressed with easy wins in both starts since switching to this venue from Kentucky. Both of those efforts came over the six furlong distance he tackles here including when making all to score by six lengths in a $50,000 starter contest last month. Joe Sharp’s charge comes into this on the back of a 48.80 four furlong work a week ago with the son of Into Mischief taken to complete a hat-trick switched to an allowance optional claimer.
5:45 pm Fair Grounds (Race 8) – Astute 3/1 (2-star play)
She has been victorious in three of her first four starts the daughter of Speightstown is lightly-raced for one of her age. Returned from over 18 months off the track with a good three-and-a-quarter-length third when challenging five wide in the straight in the Nelson J. Menard Memorial Stakes over this course and distance last month. Likely to have improved for that effort and is taken to reverse form with Oeuvre and Charlie T who were both in front of her that day.
